The VW 387 is a general purpose dial gauge bracket that can be used:

• in conjunction with VW 387, VW 521/4, VW521/8, dial gauge extension VW 382/10, and a dial gauge to measure the crown gear backlash in transaxle,
• in conjunction with VW 387, VW 521/4, VW521/8, dial gauge extension VW 382/10, and a dial gauge to measure the crown gear backlash in rear differential.
